About Me

I began my teaching and coaching career as soon as I completed college with my undergraduate degree in History from Whitworth University.  As much as I loved teaching and coaching at the high school level, I was young and wanted to travel and explore.  This desire led me to my interim career as a contract guide, leading trips all over the United States and Europe.  Having my fill of travel and missing the classroom, I went back to school where I earned my Master's degree from George Fox University.  I began teaching Social Studies at West in the fall of 2008 and have been at West ever since.

During my time at West, I have had the pleasure of working alongside some of the most dedicated educators, all working towards the same goals: helping our students navigate the middle school years and preparing them to be the most successful young adults they can be.  Here in lies the challenge of this work but also the greatest reward.  Being able to impart the fundamental truths that each individual student has value and a purpose continues to give my career choice value and purpose.

When we are not working with our West family, my wife and I are busy raising our own 3 kids.  Sports have and continue to be a big part of our life and we are so blessed to watch each of them grow and develop as athletes and more importantly, as young adults.
